Just read through OP’s blog and damn, it’s a shame they’re like this bc they’ve made some good stuff. They have a well-written, heartfelt comic about this cat and this duck. It’s touching! But every so often there’s one like this or one like the “cis women can’t use ‘girlfriend’ to describe girls they’re friends with 3:< “ and it’s so disappointing. C’mon OP, you can do better than this
other people succeeding and achieving things (school, jobs, relationships, etc.) before you do, does not make you a failure. it doesn’t make you bad at these things. it just means some things are going to take a little more time for you than it will for other people. you have time. there are no rules or deadlines by which you have to achieve and experience things. there’s too much pressure to have all these things done by your early to mid twenties but you have your whole life to figure yourself out and do what you want. you are doing your best and that’s what matters. i’m proud of you and you are going to be okay.
olaf is the prime example of a genuinely bad character who did a few good deeds in his life and doesnt get redeemed because of it. the baudelaires did not mourn for him. they buried him because to them, they felt thats what they should do. they still hated him. count olafs ending is not an excuse to crown him your “uwu precious angel who was misunderstood.” he is a bad person who had a few good moments. dont romanticize his abuse of the baudelaires just because he carried kit to the island.
I think they buried him because watching a corpse decompose is traumatizing and unhygienic. Plus it would not smell good at all.
Burying him was more their gift to themselves than any commentary on his worth as a character.
